  Naturalist and Native Plant Expert Leads
Nature Walk
in Anson B Nixon Park      

Kennett Square PA –  Native plant expert Karen Travers will lead a seasonal walk through the natural areas of  Anson B. Nixon Park on Sunday, Apri,l 10. The 106-acre park is located on the edge of Kennett Borough and Township and is home to a number of unusual and lovely native plants, including trout lily, jack in the pulpit, umbrella magnolia, as well as some towering specimens of beech, some over 250 years old. 
            The public is invited to view the season’s progression of plants in Nixon Park.  President of the Pennsbury Township Land Trust, Karen has led numerous national and international excursions in search of native plants, a better understanding of the importance of protecting natural habitats, as well as how plants have been used for cultural purposes. The walk will begin at the parking lot located off Walnut Street. There is no charge for participation and the tour will take about 1½ hours. 
The Anson B. Nixon Park is located on North Walnut Street off State Street in Kennett Square. Comprised of 106 acres, the Park has an entertainment pavilion, permanent restroom facilities, children’s playground, 5 pavilions with picnic tables, water and electricity, 3 miles of walking trails, 2 sand and 2 grass volleyball courts, 2 tennis courts, 18 holes of disc golf, 2 ponds stocked for fishing, and athletic fields.  For further information call 610 444-1416 or visit the park website anxonbnixonparg.org .
